Zutyladon steps into a brighter chapter with “Ihe Oma”

“Ihe Oma” marks a new chapter for Zutyladon, a joyous release that fuses the enthusiasm of a new beginning with the enduring resilience of cultural origins. The award-winning Nigerian artist has spent years touring across Nigeria and forging cultural bridges through his music, and now releases his first output since relocating to the UK.

“Ihe Oma” is fundamentally a hymn of thanksgiving, anticipation, celebration and hope. Fundamentally, it is the idea that something good can come out of something bad. That optimism lends an uplifting element to the tune and connects the release with Zutyladon’s own journey to a new chapter of life.

The song combines his distinctive Afrofusion and dancehall bounce with the wisdom of Igbo proverbs and a decidedly positive viewpoint. The fusion lets “Ihe Oma” tap into traditional Igbo and Eastern Nigerian culture while retaining the modern Afropop energy that has become part of Zutyladon’s musical identity.

It’s probably this mix between tradition and forward mobility that makes the release so exciting. The relocation to the UK is a big new chapter, but the music itself is not leaving those cultural roots behind. Instead, “Ihe Oma” pushes forward, showing how one can change and still have a profound connection to one’s roots.
