GIDEON UNNA and Naomi Shapira’s latest single “Heaven Is Here” is finding paradise in the present

GIDEON UNNA and Naomi Shapira’s sweet and contemplative single “Heaven is here” asks listeners to rethink where happiness and paradise might be found. The track is not going toward some distant ideal but toward the beauty and the promise currently contained in everyday life.

The basis of it was Unna writing on guitar in his kibbutz home, which lends it an intimate, personal quality. It evolved from there, in conjunction with longtime creative partner Lior Medan. Naomi Shapira’s vocal contribution adds another layer of emotional resonance, helping the song carry its fundamental message with warmth.

“Heaven Is Here” was recorded at Yoav Asif’s home studio in Moshav Tzrufa, in an intimate setting that suits the song's organic quality and thematic focus. The setting and the creative process seem to align with the song's message, there is much to be said for finding beauty in what is already around us rather than always striving for something beyond reach.

The single offers a counterpoint to the view expressed in John Lennon’s “Imagine.” Unna’s song urges us to consider the potential of paradise in the present moment rather than as something that exists somewhere else or belongs to a future vision.
