Emily Daccarett transforms grief into radiant pop on “Another World”

The newest EP from Emily Daccarett, "Another World", is a poignant collection of songs as one can imagine. A three-track that showcases the enduring power of love well after loss. The EP wastes no time getting to the point, running under 7 minutes and 43 seconds, it sticks in the listener's mind longer than that last note fades away, thanks to an impactful story.

"Another World" is a meditation on how we can be there for each other through barriers. It consists of a collection of poems written after the author lost her soulmate. Daccarett explores love from every perspective, how fortunate it is to find love, how beautiful a feeling it is to think the two were meant to be, and how agonizing as hell it is, especially when someone can't continue their life without you, even if they have left.

The opener, "Clarity," with its infectious alternative pop energy, establishes the vibe. It embodies the sensation of relinquishing everything for a one-in-a-lifetime love, something so rare, fated, and absolutely undeniable. It has dark and airy qualities, as well as happy and sad ones.

The most poignant part of the record is the title track, "Another World." Movie and electronic pop music give their grief a beauty. The song changes gears, its attitude shifts from sadness to hope, that love is still here, just beyond our senses.
