Common People let emotions pour in their stirring new single “Rain”

The indie rock band Common People from Los Angeles has just released their latest single, "Rain." This is a big step forward in their young but quickly growing discography. The song came out on January 9, 2026, through Parallel Vision/Big Loud Rock. It is the band's fourth single after "Ready or Not," "Propaganda," and "Thank You." It shows that the band has a deeper emotional connection than other indie rock bands.

"Rain," written by singer/guitarist Nicky Winegardner and bassist/vocalist Konrad Ulich and produced by Brad Shultz of Cage the Elephant, strikes a delicate balance between sadness and comfort. The song captures how memories stick with us, how moments and feelings stay with us, and change everything around them. The song's guitar layers from Winegardner, Belzer, and Thomsen mix with Ulich's steady bass and Cadden's expressive drumming to create a soundscape that is both big and small at once.

Along with the release, director Janush Libicki's music video brings the song's emotional depth to life with stunning visuals, adding to its story of a lingering memory and emotional resonance. It's a movie that goes along with a song that feels both universal and very personal, showing how the band is growing and becoming more mature as artists.

With "Rain," Common People show that indie rock can still surprise and move people in 2026 by turning deep thoughts into music that is both simple and complex. The band will soon bring this emotional weight to stages across North America as they tour with Rainbow Kitten Surprise. Fans can expect a live show that captures the song's intimate yet expansive energy. This is a sneak peek of what will be an exciting year for the up-and-coming Los Angeles band.
