Cavetown and Chloe Moriondo set sail on dreamy collaboration “Sailboat”

The British indie-pop band Cavetown and the American singer-songwriter Chloe Moriondo collaborated on a new song, "Sailboat," released on January 2, 2026. The single is the first time the two have worked together in five years, since they covered Wheatus' "Teenage Dirtbag" in 2021. It is also the fifth song from Cavetown's upcoming album, "Running With Scissors."

"Sailboat," written by Skinner and Moriondo and produced by Underscores, feels like a lighthearted meeting of minds. The song has a playful, intimate feel that shows how close the two artists are. He calls it a "killer song" and says that rehearsals are already putting his band through the wringer. He promises that live performances will rip. The production shines with the signature polish of underscores, balancing playful textures with warm, grounded tones.

The music video, directed by Zack Shorrosh and filmed on the famous Coney Island Boardwalk, perfectly complements the song's upbeat energy. Cavetown says he feels self-conscious when lip-syncing in public, but with Moriondo's help, the two create an effortlessly fun dynamic on screen. The visuals play with memories and spontaneity, and Coney Island's colorful boardwalk makes a fun, movie-like setting for their chemistry.

"Sailboat" shows why Cavetown and Moriondo are still popular in their own indie circles. The song's charm comes from its authenticity, it has a shared creative language that turns into catchy melodies and a fun, but emotionally powerful, listening experience. As we get more excited for Running With Scissors, this collaboration reminds us of how great it is when two artists who really click work together. "Sailboat" doesn't feel like a single, it feels more like a small, perfect moment between two old friends who are navigating music and life together. The production is sparkling, the visuals are cute, and the chemistry is undeniable.
