Irish Indie Rock outfit Diveboy return with new single “Glory Days,” their second taster from the upcoming third album. After the glistening “Suntrap” back in July, the latest single sees the band, featuring Tony O’Donovan on vocals/guitar, Peter Piggott on lead guitar, and Cian Doherty on drums, embracing reflection without turning down their heat.
“Glory Days” is less about memories than a call to embrace change with grace. Co-written by all three members and produced by Ruadhri Cushnan, the song has the feel of a band comfortable in their own skin while also stretching out slightly. Its lyrics resist the pull toward cynicism as time marches forward, reminding us that keeping oneself young is more a matter of mindset than calendared age.
“Glory Days” expands on Diveboy’s gift for anthemic indie rock-driven guitar lines, courtesy of Piggott, Doherty’s punchy percussion, and O’Donovan’s heartfelt vocals, stitching it all together. It’s then insightful without being weighty, catchy without being vapid, a song that lingers long after its last chord.
On “Glory Days”, Diveboy continues to show they’re not just memories tripping, they are here to soundtrack the right now, and make it hit as hard.
