Brian Mullins revisits southern youth on "Growing Up In Georgia"

Brian Mullins, an independent country songwriter, is back with a deeply personal new single, "Growing Up In Georgia." It's a look back at the years that shaped both the man and the music behind the name. Based on real life, the song captures the feelings of growing up in the American South in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Storytelling has always been the most important part of Mullins's art. He wrote and produced every song in his catalog, and you can tell that he really cares about what he does. "Growing Up In Georgia" doesn't feel like polished memories, it feels more like a memory coming to life in real time, honest, unfiltered, and warmly familiar. The song captures the universal feeling of remembering the little things that shape who we are.

Mullins was born in Meadow Bridge, West Virginia, and grew up in Winder, Georgia. He gets his ideas from the crossroads of those two places. The emotional center of the song is the change from Appalachian roots to deep-South adolescence. His songs are about memory and place, painting a picture of youth shaped by living in a small town, the changing seasons, and the endless possibilities of youth.

The single shows how well Mullins combines heartfelt stories with simple, melodic country arrangements. His delivery is honest and down-to-earth, making it seem as if these stories aren't made up but are remembered.
