Marseille’s very own RedLight are being all Red, Light, and are setting up their 2025 album release with “Les Dérives”, a track that encompasses the trademark anxiousness and melodic grit of the band since they stormed onto the scene in 2007. Remaining faithful to their roots, the French rock collective once again mixes stimulating emotion with a punchy DIY sound that is as honest as it is electrifying.
“Les Dérives” has been recorded and mixed at their own home studio by guitarist Dapé and carries over the self-sufficiency and freedom that have always guided RedLight’s creativity. A controlled digression, the track unspools like a melodic drift through tension, reflection, and release. It’s a road trip of driving guitars, rhythmic urgency, and an emotive vocal delivery that teeters between vulnerable and defiant.
Inspired by a range vast enough to include the grungy dirt of Pearl Jam and the alternative misery of The Cure, all the way through to the pure power of Prodigy and typical Beastie Boys upbeat mischievousness, “Les Dérives” brings these strands together in something entirely RedLightly. The result is a sound that’s unapologetically alive, a reminder that rock can still hit hard and remain deeply human.
With new LP scheduled for March 14th, 2025 release RedLight remind you of the essence of original, DIY music. “Les Dérives” is not merely a single, it’s a cry for artistic liberation, and a preview of what sounds like a record packed with both muscle and sentiment.
