British singer-songwriter JADE has always been open about her feelings, and her latest single, "Unconditional," is her most heartfelt work yet. Released on September 10 as a sneak peek of her much-anticipated debut solo album, "THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY!", the song is a beautiful mix of sorrow and joy.
"Unconditional" pays tribute to JADE's mother, who has been battling lupus and other chronic illnesses for a long time. JADE shares her struggle, saying, All my life I've felt frustrated not being able to help her or save her. I thought: How can I write a somber song that makes people want to dance? This blend of deep emotion and lively sound is truly what makes the song special. Co-written with Pablo Bowman and Mike Sabath, who also produced the track "Unconditional," this track features an upbeat disco vibe that combines the classic energy of artists like Donna Summer with a modern twist reminiscent of MGMT. JADE describes the music as a Frankenstein of sounds, creating a space where feelings and dancing can go hand in hand.
In an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, JADE revealed that "Unconditional" was the last song she wrote for the album. This might explain why it feels like the emotional core of the record is a heartfelt ending that connects the personal with the performance, blending private feelings with public expression.
With "Unconditional," JADE gives listeners more than just something to dance to, she offers a powerful message about resilience, love, and the beautiful complexity of wanting to help someone through the power of music.
