Freight unleash festival anthem vibes with "The Only Thing I Know"

Warrington's teenage powerhouse duo, Freight, is back with their second single, "The Only Thing I Know", a song that sounds tailor-made for the live stage, and with good reason. After a summer that witnessed them tear through a string of high-octane festival performances, playing raucous sets at Stranger Ways Festival, Together Again Festival, and sharing the stage with album-chart-topping The K's at Newton Festival, Freight have crafted a sound which is as much about collective joy as it is teenage angst and aspiration.

"The Only Thing I Know" surges with such a frantic kick that it's impossible to be still. Singer Luka Gunes leads the charge with vocals that are as much intimate as an anthem, calling out to be sung along to, not just listened to. There's magic in here, the kind that turns a song into a rote sing-along at a live show. Luka himself muses on this, commenting that it's my favourite song live, because I teach the crowd the words to the chorus and we all sing it together.  It's got a real sing-along-y vibe to it. That energy carries through into the recorded track, delivering the listener a direct on-stage experience right to their ears.

Freight continues to walk the tightrope of youthful exuberance with a sophistication far beyond their stereotypical tender ages. Their ear for a killer hook and a great arrangement is obvious, with each component of a track serving the song's communal, festival-friendly nature. It's a song that doesn't just entertain, it involves you, and you're just asking to be able to chant out that chorus full-throatedly from your bedroom or in a tent full of revelers.

With their forthcoming EP, "Kaleidoscope," "The Only Thing I Know" serves as a small teaser for the epic album to follow. Freight's skill at writing songs that excel in both live and recorded settings shows itself as the band grows in confidence and artistic talent. This single isn't so much a summer release as anointing for Freight as one of the most thrilling young bands in UK indie right now, and one who are going to turn every stage they tread into a mass moment of shared bliss.
