Nicolas Gardel charts a luminous course with “Polaris”

"NUMERICA" is the debut album from Nicolas Gardel's solo project. Gardel expresses a personal journey, noting a transformation in his experience of music and creativity with his new single "Polaris" He demonstrates a remarkable ability to blend technical skill with deep emotion in his work. What's interesting about this album is that Gardel collaborates with himself.

One of the standout pieces, "Polaris," is like a musical conversation where Gardel plays both the melody and the accompaniment, using a folk guitar and a classical guitar. The result is a beautiful interplay of sounds that feels both grounded and expansive. The name "Polaris" reflects the song's essence. It's named after the North Star, suggesting stability and direction. The music revolves around a couple of central chords that serve as its foundation, giving Gardel room to explore and improvise while maintaining a strong core.

You can easily hear the differences between the two guitars. The folk guitar stands out with its more rugged, earthy sound, often adding a lively rhythm, while the classical guitar brings a smoother, more lyrical quality. Gardel delicately balances these sounds, allowing each instrument to express its unique character. This piece isn't just about flashy playing, it's a thoughtful meditation that becomes richer with each listen.
