“Kamel” by Barnsen is an excellent caravan that bridges centuries

In a world where music genres often blend and blur together, Barnsen's latest single, "Kamel," is a delightful and artistic exploration of sounds that bridges the classic and the contemporary.

This track is the first glimpse of Barnsen's upcoming 2026 album, "Kamel," which pays tribute to Camille Saint-Saëns' 1886 composition, a fun piece that also inspired famous musicians like Rimsky-Korsakov and Frank Zappa. However, Barnsen focuses not on the literal meaning of "camel" as an animal but rather on the idea of a wandering artist who creates captivating music. The song features the unique style of guitarist Bernhard Wegner-Schmidt, who expertly weaves together various sounds. His guitar flows through the track with a calm presence, while the glockenspiel adds a light, ethereal quality that feels like a beautiful illusion.

The real standout of "Kamel" is the talented group that accompanies Wegner-Schmidt, whom he affectionately refers to as his dream team. Maxine Troglauer, a Berlin-based bass trombonist known for her impressive skills, sets a rich and warm tone. Uwe Breunig, a skilled percussionist from Hamburg, brings exceptional rhythm to the song through his precise drumming. Kattan, a talented darbuka player from Granada, adds an energetic beat that feels both timeless and modern. A string quartet from the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt contributes an emotional depth that enriches the overall sound, showcasing their experience working with artists such as Robbie Williams and David Garrett. "Kamel" is not just a song; it's a vibrant mix of talented musicians coming together to create something fresh and exciting.
